There's some housekeeping tasks that I would preferably offload to a dedicated housekeeper service.

  • Handle backups (scheduling, retrying, sending ntfy messages)
  • Scheduling BTRFS maintenance
  • Metric collection
  • Monitoring disk & file system health
  • Maybe aggregating logs?

There's probably some more tasks like this down the road that would fit nicely in this model.

This housekeeper would probably be a Rust application that runs as a daemon in the background, using as little resources as possible.
