Apparently the Gpodder.net server also performs pagination by only returning part of the results and adjusting the timestamp value accordingely. Kasts at least is configured to work with this pagination method.

This pagination method doesn't have a bounded amount of entries it can return, but it could greatly decrease the average amount of entries returned per request.
